Simple Violet

"I believe that every flower created by Him is beautiful, that the brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not lessen the perfume of the violet or the sweet simplicity of the daisies. I believe that if all the lowly flowers wished to be roses, nature would lose her springtime beauty, and the fields would no longer be enameled with lovely hues. Our Lord has created great saints who are the roses and the lilies of His kingdom, but he has also created lesser ones, simple daisies and violets growing at His feet." -St. Therese of Lisieux

How beautiful are the words by this simple saint! This quote, and her whole life, is so inspiring. We are all destined to be saints, no matter if you're John Paul II who was a visible, clear light of Christ to all the world, or you're Therese, a simple nun whom rarely left the confines of her convent. You could have the most boring job in the world, and yet, if you offer that up and live that for Christ, that boring job could bring you to sainthood! Therese also said, "I will give you everything and when I have nothing left to give, I will give you that nothing." So much easier said than done! But by God's Grace, anything can be done. I know for me, when I miss daily mass for a couple of days, I go back to the selfish worldly person that I am without God's grace in my life. The sacraments have enough grace alone to lead us to sainthood.
